About The Book
Rhythms Primeval
The verses of Maya Mitra Das plumb the alchemy of primeval moons and mist-wrapped mountains; delving deep into the realm of personal myth. Spanning the arc of ecstasy and despair, her poems explore the boundaries of human loneliness as well as the healing power of love.
“Rhythms Primeval” is a collection of short and nice poems by writer Maya Mitra Das. Her previous book Silhouettes of Time was also a wonderful novel. But, this one is different. The way she has weaved words shows how gifted of a poet/writer she is. Plus, she has incredible knowledge on several topics such as spirituality, mythology, haiku, and others. The Magic Of Imagination is my favorite among all poems she has written – that just hits different. Amazing!
Rhythms Primeval is among my favorite poetry books out there. Written by Maya Mitra Das, Rhythms Primeval is a superb and captivating compilation of poems that enthrall readers and transport them to the author’s magical world. I am impressed as each poem is a masterpiece of its own. From folk tales, mysticism, and haiku to her journey as a doctor and her marriage, every poem told a unique story that kept me engaged throughout. Some poems were short, while others were long, but the length did not make me quit reading. Overall, I loved the conversational and gentle tone of the author. Rhythms Primeval is the book you would not want to miss!
A different kind of poetry than the one I am used to, because I am more into the classics such as Becquer, Espronceda, and García Lorca, but without a doubt, I like the way doctor Mitra uses words to create poetry, I can feel her soul in the poems and the need to answers in them, maybe because of her experiences as a child oncologist. Great work!
Poetry is not normally something I read. Yet this one I would recommend for anybody. Maya Mitra Das has a way with words. Love this!
This book of poems was a gift. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Poetry isn't on my to-read list usually. But I may have to edit the list after reading "Rhythms Primeval". Maya Mitra Das paints with words. Each poem takes you somewhere. There is a lightness to her work. I can honestly say I haven't enjoyed reading poetry more than this collection. Thank you. Write more I want to read it! F M Ayers

“Rhythms Primeval” by Dr. Maya Mitra Das is a lyrical collection of poems that hits a deeply emotional and intellectual level. There were moments when I found myself pausing to re-read certain lines, enjoying their beauty and letting their meaning sink in. The poems about nature, in particular, stood out. One of the standout aspects of the collection is its connection to Indian heritage. At the same time, the themes of love, loss, resilience, and the search for meaning exceed cultural boundaries, making the collection universally relatable. The poetry in this book is very good at giving visual imagery through words. From the very first poem, I could see exactly what the author was describing. I could feel the emotion of loneliness and could definitely relate. One of my favorites is “Maple Leaves.” It gives you such a great visual, and at the same time it gives you encouragement. I really enjoyed this poetry.
Using nature as a canvas, this poetic collection offers often serene, occasionally horrific poetic collection that seems to come close from the poet's heart. The readers can find various themes amongst these poems, which include loneliness and travel. Confined between a few pages the poems tend to be in rhymes, although a few have prose-like quality.
Among poetry, this was definitely a unique choice for me, but I can't say it wasn't a pleasant surprise. Each poem is a delicate exploration of personal myths, with narratives that are both deeply intimate and universally resonant. I can see how the author has masterful command of imagery, capturing the essence of natural and emotional landscapes with precision and beauty. Each poem feels like a voyage, drawing you into the poet's realm with striking imagery and profound emotional resonance. This book certainly leaves a lasting impression. This introspective quality adds a layer of depth to the collection, making each poem a mirror for the your own experiences and emotions. I can say this collection is a shining example of a valuable addition to the world of contemporary poetry.
